From the cover: "For couples who don't want monogamy to equal monotony, Alison Tyler's Never Have the Same Sex Twice offers the perfect antidote to marital doldrums. Tyler lets us in on her secret: the trust that a long-term couple builds is the foundation for uninhibited, imaginative sex."

To begin with, this book is erotica, let’s get that straight. The publisher is trying to frame it as a self-help book: how to have hot sex when you are long-term couple. The book is filled with techniques and fantasies with illustrative excerpts from her own and other’s erotic writing. Some ideas I’ve tried but others, well, they had never occurred to me! And yes, each lusty scene is worth reading and maybe even trying.

The book’s strength is the chapters devoted to short stories by a variety of writers: well-written, imaginative and naughty stories. I couldn’t shake the characters and scenarios, written with just enough emotion and creativity to stick in my head.

I don’t read erotica on purpose usually because it’s often predictable and filled with cliches. (Don’t get me started on what I think of “50 Shades.”) But, like sex, when it’s good, it’s pretty damn good.

And I’ll take that kind of stimulation any day.
